The goal of marking the World and European Money Week is to raise the awareness of young people about the importance of money, financial literacy and financial reasoning, and FOI wants to go beyond the teaching framework and encourage students to learn financial literacy through extracurricular activities and learning from invited lecturers from the real sector.
According to the definition of the international Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), "financial education is a capacity-building process by which individuals increase their understanding of financial products and content and, through information, teaching and objective advice, develop skills and confidence, so that they can become more aware of financial risk, but also an opportunity to make informed decisions and to know who to turn to for help, to build appropriate attitudes and reactions, and to improve their financial position and good money management."
World Money Week is an annual initiative of Child & Youth Finance International (CYFI), which, in cooperation with the OECD, continuously works to raise financial awareness among children and young people. It tries to encourage young people as much as possible to think about money issues, the funds that need to be provided for life and about entrepreneurship.
