FOI International Days is a traditional event that has been organized by FOI International Relations Office every spring since 2008 (with the exception of the pandemic year 2020). From 2018 onwards, it has been a multi-day event.
The aim of this event is to network and exchange experiences and ideas related to international cooperation and internationalization, as well as to promote the international activities of the Faculty of Organization and Informatics and partner universities abroad. During these few days, we host international guests from partner institutions, organize invited lectures and panel discussions, workshops and events for students, as well as collaboration meetings and informal gatherings to facilitate networking.
This year, we will host a record number of international guests, teachers and staff responsible for international cooperation, as well as students, from around 10 partner institutions from Europe and USA.
On the first day of the event, Wednesday, May 10, we have prepared an introductory programmme for our international days - to introduce our Faculty, the city, and the Varaždin Student Center.
On Thursday, May 11, 2023, the main part of the programme will take place, starting with a review by the head of the FOI International Relations Office, Izabela Oletić Tušek, of the past 15 years of internationalization and International Days at FOI, followed by three invited lectures by renowned experts in the field: Tomislav Fresl, the Head of the Department for Higher Education at the Croatian Agency for Mobility and EU Programmes (AMPEU), will give a lecture on mobility programs in Croatia; Ben De Vleeschauwer , Karel de Grote University of Applied Sciences and Arts (Belgium) will give a lecture on the organization of combined intensive programs, while the visiting lecturer from Indiana State University in the USA, Prof. Ricky Fergurson, Ph.D. will give a lecture on international university branding.
This will be followed by a panel discussion on academic staff mobility entitled "Internationalization - What's in it for me?" moderated by the ECTS coordinator of FOI, Assoc. Prof. Martina Tomičić Furjan, Ph.D.
In the second part of the program, guests from three new partner institutions will present their universities and faculties, with a focus on opportunities for incoming students and teachers.
The last day of the program, Friday, May 12, 2023, is reserved for students. For visiting students from CAMPUS 02 Graz, we have organized a visit to the Varaždin Technology Park and a workshop on artificial intelligence to be conducted by Bogdan Okreša Đurić, Ph.D.
The other part of Friday’s events is meetup for FOI students called “Get to know our partner universities”, where FOI students will be able to meet our guest and ask them all they want to know about their universities and faculties. Students can also join an invited lecture on the topic of design thinking which will be held by Jasper Aelvoet from Karel de Grote University of Applied Sciences and Arts (Belgium) as a part of bachelor course Operations Management.
