Erasmus+ Mobility at the University of Łódź

Created: 28.10.2024

The Erasmus+ mobility at the University of Łódź from October 13 to 19, 2024, marked the first teaching and training mobility between the Faculty of Organization and Informatics and this university, conducted by Teaching Assistant Marija Maček. The focus of this mobility was on enhancing academic cooperation, exchanging teaching methods, and developing new opportunities for project collaboration. During her visit, Assistant Maček conducted laboratory exercises in the Programming Web Services course. This mobility has strengthened the potential for future joint projects and initiatives between the two faculties.

From October 13 to 19, 2024, Marija Maček, a Teaching Assistant in web programming at the Faculty of Organization and Informatics, participated in an Erasmus+ mobility program at the University of Łódź, Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science. This mobility represents the first teaching exchange between the Faculty of Organization and Informatics and the University of Łódź, aimed at enhancing academic collaboration, sharing teaching methodologies, and developing new opportunities for student and faculty exchange, as well as project cooperation.

The program included familiarization with the faculty structure, mission, and objectives, along with meetings with various faculty members – Prof. Dr. Stanisław Goldstein, Prof. Dr. Mariusz Jarocki, Prof. Dr. Wojciech Horzelski, and Prof. Dr. Monika Bartkiewicz, the Vice Dean. During these meetings, ongoing and upcoming projects were discussed, with a particular focus on research efforts in information technology-related projects. These meetings facilitated the exchange of teaching experiences and practices and offered insights into the various study programs within the faculty, including mathematics, data science, and computer science. With Erasmus+ coordinator Prof. Dr. Anna Łazińska, further possibilities for collaboration between the two faculties were explored.

During the visit, Assistant Maček conducted 4-hour laboratory exercises for two multicultural groups of third-year undergraduate students in the computer science program for the course Programming Web Services. Through these exercises, students had the opportunity to develop a frontend application. This activity provided students with valuable experience in web technology application, contributing to their program’s skill development.

Through job shadowing, the Assistant Maček observed teaching practices in courses like machine learning, linear algebra, computer networks, and web programming. A meeting with FOI fifth-year students Aleksandar Babić and David Slavik, who are currently studying in Łódź as part of their Erasmus+ mobility during the winter semester, was also beneficial.

Aside from academic activities, the faculty hosts warmly introduced Assistant Maček to the city of Łódź’s history and culture. Visits were organized to locations such as EC1, an educational center in a refurbished power plant focused on science, technology, and art; Manufaktura, a former textile industry hub; and Pasaż Róży, a picturesque passage with a mirrored facade symbolizing the city’s heritage and cultural history.

This mobility enabled an exchange of teaching practices and strengthened the potential for future cooperation between the Faculty of Organization and Informatics and the University of Łódź, laying a foundation for ongoing academic collaboration.
