The first FOI Summer school 2024 held in collaboration with ESIEA from France

Throughout September, University of Zagreb Faculty of Organization and Informatics hosted a Summer school organized jointly by FOI and its partner engineering school ESIEA from France. The program, which was held from September 2nd to 25th, 2024, involved 23 students and 4 professors.

The FOI Summer school, held throughout September, covered three distinct topics:

  • Databases,
  • Web Programming and Web Security,
  • Asymmetric Cryptography and Its Applications.

In the first three weeks, the program consisted of two courses taught by FOI staff. Prof. Markus Schatten, Ph.D. lectured on the basics of databases (Introductory Database Course), while Asst. Prof. Matija Novak and assistant Marija Maček, M.Inf., led the course on web programming and security (Web Programming and Web Security Fundamentals). These courses were attended by 13 ESIEA students. Students who successfully completed the course and passed the exam earned 3 ECTS credits for each course.

During the final week, from September 23th to 25th, Prof. Robert Erra, Ph.D. from ESIEA taught a course on asymmetric cryptography and its applications (An Introduction to Asymmetric Cryptography & Its Applications). During this week, 10 students joined the program. All lectures were conducted in English and FOI students will receive 1 ECTS credit for their successful participation.

The FOI Summer School 2024 in Varaždin organizer was FOI International Relations Office, coordinated by the FOI Vice-dean for Science, Projects and International Cooperation, Assoc. Prof. Martina Tomičić Furjan, Ph.D. The International Relations Office was responsible for organizing the stay of ESIEA students, which included informal gatherings and a weekend trip to Istria.
