The theme of the CECIIS 2023 conference is 'DIGITAL HUMAN', and again this year it is organized in cooperation with the University of Dubrovnik and other partners.
Main Conference Theme - Digital Human
Term digital human is included in a wide area of topics related to interaction of human beings in an evolving digital environment. Society is changing due to digital technologies and we as humans live part of our lives on social networks, metaverse and interact with artificial intelligence. ChatGPT is an important milestone in the development of AI but also in the evolution of digital humans. We can expect more advanced modalities of human augmentation and further immersion in the digital environment. At the most advanced level we will have a digital human as a computer-generated representation of a human being. This can take many forms, from a simple avatar used in a video game to a highly realistic, photorealistic rendering used in films or virtual reality. The technology will create more advanced digital representations that are going to be increasingly indistinguishable from real humans. One of the key advantages of digital humans is that they can be created and customized quickly and easily. This allows a wide range of applications, from entertainment and gaming to training simulations and even medical and psychological research. However, the use of digital humans also raises some ethical questions. We are still unsure about the impact of these advanced technologies on education, labour market, economy, human rights and many other areas. In search of answers we have to act within large-scale interdisciplinary collaborations and try to find the best approach to understand the future that has already started. Therefore, CECIIS 2023 conference announces this topic with great excitement hoping to host researchers interested to present their research and to exchange their results and ideas.
Conference Program
The three-day conference program for all participants includes lectures by two esteemed European speakers. From KU Leuven University, Prof. Lode Lauwaert will speak on the topic of "Ethics of risk in the context of AI", while Damir Bogdan, CEO of the Center of Excellence for Quantum Computing and Artificial Intelligence, QuantumBasel from Switzerland, will address the topic "How Technologies of tomorrow will impact our Industries today - an overview about Quantum Computing".
Participants can also expect a panel discussion on the attractive topic of "Science and AI", moderated by Prof. Neven Vrček, Ph.D. President of the Program Committee of the CECIIS 2023 conference and a professor at FOI. The panelists include Damir Bogdan (CEO QuantumBasel, Switzerland), Prof. Blaženka Divjak, Ph.D. (University of Zagreb, FOI), Prof. Tomislav Matić, Ph.D. (Josip Juraj Strossmayer University, Osijek, FERIT), and Prof. Enrique Mu, Ph.D. (Carlow University, USA).
Conference participants from Europe and the USA will have the opportunity to meet international project teams and learn about the results of their research and scientific projects within the so-called "Project Oasis". They will also participate in an international workshop on the increasingly popular short intensive mobility programs ("Mastering Blended Intensive Programs – insights and trends!") led by Assoc. Prof. Martina Tomičić Furjan, Ph.D. Additionally, there will be a professional workshop titled "Tabletop exercise in responding to information security incidents involving a ransomware attack" led by Prof. Đorđe Krivokapić, Ph.D., Andrea Nikolić and Ivona Živković. Furthermore, the conference will introduce the international consortium of the research infrastructure Bloxberg, based on blockchain technology.
13th Student Poster and Presentation Section - from Peru through the USA to Europe
The 13th edition of the Student Poster and Presentation Section within the 34th international conference CECIIS 2023, once again brings together a large number of students from different countries. The section gathers 35 students within 20 research projects from all over the world. We have research results from students from Peru, some students come from Florida in the United States, then from Slovakia, Latvia, Albania, Austria, Slovenia, Bulgaria, and of course, from Croatia.
The leaders of the Student Section of CECIIS are Prof. Violeta Vidaček Hainš, Ph.D. from FOI (Faculty of Organization and Informatics) and Prof. Victoria Appatova, Ph.D. from the University of Cincinnati in Ohio, USA.
The topics of student research are related to the application of information and communication technology in various fields - from psychology and medicine to applications in economic or computer sciences. Students will discuss conceptual solutions for smart cities, challenges of contemporary virtual communication, concrete applications of digital technologies, artificial intelligence, and many other current topics.

International Reviewers
Papers that have received positive reviews from international reviewers, categorized into 12 scientific sections, are published in the Proceedings, which is indexed in the following bibliographic databases: DOAJ - Directory of Open Access Journals, EBSCO, ProQuest, and WoS. Some of these papers will be considered for publication in the Journal of Information and Organizational Sciences (JIOS), published by the Faculty of Organization and Informatics at the University of Zagreb.
