The specialits study programmes are designed to address the needs of the Croatian economy by emphasizing knowledge and information technology, thereby fostering economic development.

About the Study Programmes

These postgraduate specialist studies provide students the specialized knowledge and skills necessary for the job market. The study leaders, along with all faculty members and associates, are dedicated to the continuous professional development of the programmes, ensuring they serve as a catalyst for economic development within the region and society as a whole.

TThe following specialist postgraduate programmes are offered at the Faculty of Organization and Informatics:

  • Information Systems Security Management and Auditing (ISSMA)
  • Business Systems Management (BSM)
  • E-Learning in Education and Business (ELEB)

Academic Title

Upon successful completion of these programmes, students are awarded the title of University Specialist in their respective fields.

About the Study

This postgraduate specialist study programme is intended for a wide range os diverse audience, including engineers and specialists who design and implement information systems, information system auditors, security managers, internal auditors, directors, ICT sector managers, Audit Office Heads, and Security Department Heads, among others. Faculty members from the Faculty of Organization and Informatics have incorporated contemporary topics in information security into the curriculum. Each course integrates theoretical knowledge with practical application, delivered by educators and experts from FOI, international partner institutions, and recognized professionals from the IT industry.
As a specialist postgraduate programme, it focuses on the transfer of professional knowledge and practical problem-solving, essential for effective education in this field. The curriculum is aligned with the European e-competences framework, ensuring that it covers the necessary competencies and knowledge required for professionals in information security. It also meets several worldwide professional standards, including those establiched by ISACA, GIAC, ECCOUNCIL, and IAPP. The programme includes preparatory training for widely renowned professional certifications CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional).
The study includes five mandatory subjects covering fundamental areas and 14 elective courses, allowing students to gain expertise with specialized knowledge in fileds like:

  • Information Security Management
  • Information Security Architecture design
  • Information Security Auditing

 

Establishment and Delivery

The programme is established and delivered by the University of Zagreb Faculty of Organization and Informatics, which serves as a direct link to university's research activities and facilitating the transfer of knowledge to future researchers and competent professionals.

Study Duration

The duration of the postgraduate specialist study in Information Systems Security Management and Auditing (ISSMA) last one and a half years (1.5), divided in three semesters. Students may choose to complete the study in real-time or at their own speed, depending on their other responsibilities. Active engagement in all teaching formats is crucial for student success.
Lectures take place in Varaždin on Friday afternoons and Saturday mornings. In response to trends in online learning and the needs of participants, the programme is also offered in an online format. Classes are conducted in both Croatian and English, featuring renowned professors from abroad.

Academic Title

Upon successful completion and defense of the final specialist thesis, students are awarded 90 ECTS points and the title of Specialist in Information Systems Security Management and Auditing (spec. inf).

Therefore, this study programme is designed for individuals seeking to acquire new knowledge in management and the leadership of modern business systems within both the private and public sectors. Managers from large enterprises, as well as entrepreneurs from small and medium-sized enterprises, will gain the knowledge and experience necessary to enhance their daily business processes.

Each semester comprises lectures covering both compulsory and elective disciplines. Students have the flexibility to complete the study in real time or at their own pace, accommodating their other commitments. Active participation in all teaching formats is essential for student success. Lectures are held in Varaždin on Friday afternoons and Saturday mornings.

Upon completion of the postgraduate specialist study in Business Systems Management, students will have acquired the following competencies:

About the Study

The University Specialist Study E-Learning in Education and Business (EUOP) aims to facilitate the acquisition of new knowledge, skills, and competencies within the context of lifelong learning. It is designed to improve employment prospects and enhance the quality of work among individuals (teachers, professors, assistants, and collaborators) in the educational system through the effective application of ICT. Additionally, it seeks to support initiatives in the private sector related to non-formal and informal education. The study is conducted in a blended format, combining traditional face-to-face classes with e-learning/online components, thereby showcasing and maximizing the possibilities of e-learning.

Study Leadership

The programme is led by the University of Zagreb Faculty of Organization and Informatics in collaboration with the University of Zagreb Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, and is conducted in partnership with the Croatian Academic and Research Network (CARNET).

Study Duration

The University Specialist Study in E-Learning in Education and Business lasts one and a half years (1.5) and is organized into three 3 semesters. Each semester comprises lectures covering both compulsory and elective disciplines. Students have the flexibility to complete the study in real time or at their own pace, accommodating their other commitments. Active participation in all teaching formats is essential for student success. Lectures are held in Varaždin on Friday afternoons and Saturday mornings.

Competences

The study is structured within the framework of lifelong learning and enables students to acquire and apply modern knowledge in areas such as:

  • Understanding the theoretical, practical, cultural, and administrative influences of ICT application in education (e-learning)
  • Acquiring knowledge and skills regarding ICT systems that support education (e- learning)
  • Understanding the characteristics of teaching and learning supported by ICT
  • Familiarity with multimedia systems, development of multimedia educational content, and their application in education using ICT (e-learning)
  • Acquiring knowledge and skills related to the organization of educational content and activities for e-learning
  • Application of social software (Web 2.0), portfolios, mobile, and emerging technologies in education
  • Understanding strategic planning processes and creating a strategic plan for the introduction of e-learning in educational institutions and business systems
  • Familiarity with research and trends in the field of e-learning.

Academic Title

Upon successful preparation and defense of a final specialist thesis, students earn 90 ECTS credits and receive the academic title of Specialist in E-Learning (spec. inf.).

Tuition Fee

The total fee of the study programme is €4,000.00.
