On 26-27 October, the members of the bloxberg Association for the Advancement of Science and Blockchain e.V. met in Belgrade for the sixth time and The University of Zagreb, Faculty of Organization and Informatics representatives also participated. During the summit, Max Planck Society (MPG) was appointed Chair of the Board of the Association. Discussions included the expansion of the world’s largest proof-of-authority network, operated exclusively by research institutions.
In a significant stride towards advancing the frontiers of decentralized science, the Faculty of Organizational Sciences (FON), an esteemed cornerstone of the bloxberg community, will host the sixth bloxberg Summit this year. This distinguished event, exclusively tailored for delegates from research organizations worldwide and engaged third parties, embodies a collective endeavor to push the boundaries of scientific applications through the power of blockchain technology. The Faculty of Organization and Informatics (SUZG FOI) will participate in the summit as a consortium member.
On Thursday and Friday, October 19-20, 2023, the University of Zagreb Faculty of Organization and Informatics (UNIZG FOI) will host the final conference of the „ORKAN - Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Policy Ecosystem“ project.
The 34th Central European Conference on Information and Intelligent Systems (CECIIS) 2023 concluded with sucess and recognizing exceptional contributions.
The CECIIS 2023 conference kicked off to a great start. Professor Lode Lauwaert, Ph.D., addressed the topic of ethics in the context of AI, while Damir Bogdan, CEO of QuantumBasel, Switzerland, provided an overview of how technologies of tomorrow will impact our industries today with a focus on Quantum Computing. Over the next three days, 161 authors from 16 countries are presenting their research findings through 59 scientific research papers within 12 research tracks.

Gobal AI research community will be gathered in Milan, Italy on 30 September 2023, to discuss advances in the field — and to weigh in on some of the most pressing questions facing humanity in the age of machine learning. Synapse, the symposium on artificial intelligence hosted by Bending Spoons, is the first event of its kind to take place in Italy and last year drew over 150 of the brightest computer science students from around the world.
FOI students participated in the first Summer school of the Erasmus+ project DEMO that was held in Bucharest, Romania from July 17 to July 21.
Six students and two teachers from the Faculty of Organization and Informatics of the University of Zagreb participated from July 8 to 16, 2023 in the Erasmus+ Blended Intensive Program (BIP) entitled "BEST - Boost your Entrepreneurship Skills in Transylvania". BIP was held in the city of Targu Mures in the center of Transylvania, and the topic of the program was the development of student's entrepreneurial skills and innovation-oriented behavior, as well as the exchange of knowledge and culture in multidisciplinary and international teams for the purpose of preparing and modeling entrepreneurial projects (start-ups/spin -offs).
Professor Violeta Vidaček Hainš (FOI) is visiting scholar at the Indiana State University in Terre Haute (July 2nd –13th Aug 2023). She is teaching the Business Report Writing course at the Undergraduate level of study at the Scott College of Business. Additional presentations are linked to intercultural communication, experiences in students virtual mobility projects, student CECIIS online section and Student research symposium at FOI.
